We are spending the fall semester outlining fantastic stories in the One Year Adventure Novel class. Here are the first attempts at synopses/summaries of the stories the Brighton OYAN class will be writing.
(Note: these synopses are likely to change between now and the end of the school year--that's the fun of writing!)
From Keighlan:
"Katie Hawthorne is nothing short of an average teenager. She attends high school, participates in extra-curricular activities, works a part-time job. Everything about her couldn’t be more normal, except for one thing: (I want to put the villains name here, but I haven’t thought of her name yet. For the moment I will use CN, which stands for character name, to stand in for her name). CN is a figment of Katie’s imagination and has played a big role in her life ever since Freshman year. CN torments Katie with evil thoughts, untrue statements, and over-exaggerated worries. She claims she is just looking out for Katie and really does care about her but has the most horrible way of showing it. Though CN is persistent, Katie is determined to live a life free of the poisoning thoughts CN forces into her mind every single day. Will she learn to overcome her fears, or just cave under the pressure and let CN to continue to dictate her moves in life?"
From Hope:
"Payton lives in an average apartment in Springfield, Illinois, with an average job, and an average life. But her average life doesn’t follow her in her dreams. Lately, she’s been having terrifying nightmares about a surgeon that are almost like memories. Payton meets a stranger who can tell her the truth about the memories, but also tells her a dark secret. Earth is not the only world out there. There are eight planets, and on each of them there is a small sphere that is actually an entire universe. Earth is one of these universes. These spheres must be protected at all costs, if one is destroyed, the entire ring will fall apart. In order to save the ring, Payton must face the truth about the world, her deceased friend, and herself. Together, Payton and her new friend must defeat the surgeon and save the ring, even if it costs them their lives."
From Kyla:
"In a tough, quiet village, a 15 year old warrior-in-training is about to be given an incredible honor. But when his life gets twisted as a Koeksister, he has to step up to the plate, and prove himself a man. Dragons have begun the journey, but when an old enemy resurfaces, this young warrior is sent on a journey like no other. "
